The Secret of Pata’s Cookbook - a series inspired by Serbia, its beauty of spirit, and Spasenija Pata

Produced by Telekom Srbija, Krilas plans the premiere of the series in 2026.

Trifun and Pata travel through time, crossing from the past century into the new one. They arrive at their old house, which was confiscated from them in 1948, only to find that their great-great-grandson Mata has recently reclaimed it through restitution.

They met on a train on the way to Vienna, back in 1900, where Pata was traveling to study at the Vienna Academy, accompanied by her companion Marika, while Trifun was hired as a painter for the renowned Mac Morgan family.

At a Viennese ball, Leopold Mac Morgan — a Habsburg nobleman — falls in love with Marika, causing jealousy and astonishment among high Viennese society, and especially among Leopold’s mother, Margareta Mac Morgan.

To prevent a scandal, Trifun is forced to marry Marika formally — solely to protect Pata, the woman he loves. At the wedding of Trifun and Marika, Pata faints and decides she never wants to see Trifun again.

In 1939, Pata publishes her cookbook, and Marika and Leopold — who have decided to live in America — send to the editor of Politika the illustrations Trifun had drawn back in Vienna for Pata’s cookbook. After many years apart, Pata and Trifun meet once more and decide to remain together forever: Pata to cook, and Trifun to paint.

In Trifun’s house, Mata and Pata often cook together, and Mata discovers the beauty of Pata’s cookbook. In the present day, Trifun does not reveal to Mata that he is his great-great-grandfather — but he helps him find himself, and to see the true love that stands right beside him…
